Different methods Of Dog Training

Dog training is indeed a very interesting feel though it has not been started as a full time certification course. But based on some research there are ample number of methods that are practised. The intention behind these trainings is not just to ensure that the dog behaves properly but also making sure that the animal human compatibility has been fully developed.  The following are some of the dog training methods that have worked quite well globally. For dog training Los Angeles based trainers are of the opinion that these methods are not always implemented individually but rather a combination of such methods can help to train the dog better. 

Positive Reinforcement Training

                                      

For doggy day care Los Angeles based trainers take this kind of training as the first step. In positive reinforcement training, reward after the successful execution of a task given to the dog is the prime feature of this method.  This is one of the building blocks of a dog’s behaviour as this kind of training is beneficial for the pet owner. It must be remembered that in this kind, the rewards varies among dogs. For instance while for some a special food may be the right reward while for another dog a toy, a little pat can also work well. This also helps one to locate the motivation point of a dog and work on it. 

Koehler Method Of Training

For dog traning Los Angeles based trainers often suggest the Koehler Method of dog training but not which much stress. This is considered as the oldest method of training. Compulsion and correcting the physical attributes of the dog is the main emphasis in this kind of training which was developed by Willian Koehler. Since this method does not incorporate any aspects of positive reinforcement methods of training it is not considered by the American Dog Trainers Network. 

Lure Method of Training

This kind of training can be called as another aspect of positive reinforcement training but with a slight difference. Here the dog is taught with the help of hand signals to make him learn commands. The beginning of this training starta with hiding any item that the dog simply loves and making him find that lure is the main bases of the training. Gradually the lure is removed and it is seen that the dog is been able to follow the signs and commands without the lure object hidden around.

    There are other kinds of training as well like the 'Dog Whisperer' Training Approach which again does not rely on postive traing methods. The dog whisperer training approach has been hugely shunned as an inhumane approach and is also considered as outdated and improper. The American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior and other animal health and welfare organizationshave also been a lot of criticism of this method of training.

It is due to this reasons and disparities in the techniques of the training that one must very careful while choosing the dog trainer.
