There are many different ways of making yourself happy - one method is to treat someone you love.
But there is no reason why it has to be a person that you spoil, it can be equally satisfying to do the same for a beloved pet. Furry companions such as dogs and cats give so much enjoyment to their owners that it often feels deserved when you buy them a treat or get them more expensive food for their dinner.
There are all sorts of ways of spoiling a pet, ranging from simply
taking them to their favourite spot for a walk to getting them an unusual toy or new coat. A popular gift for canines are new dog beds, since some pooches spend so much time lounging in their beds that it is a present they can enjoy for large parts of every day.
Each pet is different, both in terms of their breed and their personality, so think about what they would want as a treat. It is similar to humans; there are certain gifts that almost anyone would enjoy - chocolates, a nice meal - but if you know someone well then you can get them something they would absolutely love.
The consequence of making your pet happy with some form of gift is partly the joyful way they will probably react to it and the strengthened bond between the two of you, but there is a deeper pleasure to be gained from spending your hard-earned cash selflessly.
It goes without saying that spending money on yourself can be a lot of fun and there is no need to commit to a selfless existence in order to be happy; however, taking the time out once in a while to spoil a friend - either human or animal - with gifts or treats is often its own reward.
