Keeping a Cat Entertained

Friday, September 30, 2011

Cats don't require much in the way of human interaction to get them into a playful mood. Something as simple as a bug flying by them, or a piece of string dropping to the floor is enough to get them going. Cat toys and interactive furniture and trees are available in all shapes, colors, and sizes to suit the needs and desires of every individual cat - and their human.

From simple stuffed mice to catnip scented balls, cat toys will keep these animals entertained for hours. Things like a Danglin' Redbird on a string, or felt rollers are ways for cat owners to play with their pets. Since these toys can be moved by a human, or simply by the animal itself, endless fun can be had. Soft toys seem to be a favorite among cat breeds, since they mimic the animal's natural prey, and are not hard on the teeth or too heavy to easily lift. Even if a ball or toy gets stuck under or behind an object, cats will wear themselves out trying to get it back in order to keep playing - which is more entertainment for them!

Toys are not the only things that will keep felines happy, cat trees and other furniture items will do the same. Aside from giving a cat something to climb on for a better vantage point, or to get away from other pets or humans, these structures offer never-ending challenges for cats and kittens of all sizes. The Geodome and Pod offer cats a place to completely hide themselves from everything going on around them, and the Faux Bearskin and Denim Koosh simply provide cats with a place to sleep that is more comfortable than the floor, but maybe not as comfortable as their owner's lap or bed.

Cats can and will always find something to play with, even if it is not an actual "cat toy". Providing cats with the chance to get some exercise, a way to have a little fun, and then a place relax comfortably are three of the main responsibilities of cat owners, but there are so many ways to do so that it is almost impossible to have a displeased or bored kitty. As long as they have some form of entertainment, like Jingle Jute Bombs, and a place to rest like a Sleepypod, owners shouldn't worry about their cat's entertainment level.
